Introducing Rovezi: calm money for real life

Rovezi is a private workspace for your accounts, cards, shared costs, bills and big purchases. Why we built it, what's inside and what it won't do.

Today we’re opening Rovezi to everyone. It’s a private workspace for your money: your accounts and cards, the money that moves between you and the people around you, the bills that keep coming, and the things you’ve bought that you’ll need paperwork for one day.

We built it because our own money lives were messier than any budgeting app seemed to expect. This post explains why, what’s inside, what we’ve deliberately left out, and how you can help shape what comes next.

Why we built Rovezi

Look at a fairly ordinary month for someone working in an Indian city.

A salary account and an older savings account from college. Two credit cards, one of them with an add-on card your parent uses. Rent, an EMI, a monthly SIP and a phone recharge. A dozen small UPI payments for chai, autos and groceries. A dinner you paid for with three friends who will “send it tonight”. ₹20,000 you lent your cousin in June. A weekend trip being planned on WhatsApp. A kitchen renovation at your parents’ place where you’re covering the tiles. A washing machine bought in March whose warranty card is somewhere.

None of this is unusual. But most tools treat it as one of two things: a list of bank transactions to categorise, or a group bill to split. Real life is both, and more. Money you paid for a friend isn’t spending. A credit card bill payment isn’t a new expense. Your card limit isn’t money you have. A trip has a total, and your share of it is a different number.

We wanted one calm place where all of that can sit together, accurately, without a constant feed of nudges, and without handing our bank logins to anyone. That’s Rovezi.

What’s inside

Here is what Rovezi does today, in plain terms.

Accounts, cards and transfers

Add your bank accounts, cash and cards, and record transactions and transfers between them. Moving money from savings to your salary account is a transfer, not spending, and Rovezi treats it that way.

Credit cards get special care. You can record statements and bill payments, and a card bill payment is recorded as a transfer, so the original purchases are never counted twice. If you have add-on or linked cards that share one limit, you can group them into a limit pool, so available limit is worked out once. And card limits are never added to your “available money”, because your card limit is not money you have.

People: who owes whom

When you pay for someone, Rovezi splits the payment: your share is your spending, the other shares become claims. When people pay you back, you record a settlement, in full or in part, and a claim can never be settled above what’s owed. You can send a friend a read-only share link that shows their balance with you, without them needing an account.

Projects

Group spending under a project, such as a trip, a renovation, a wedding or any shared cost, and see the totals and shares in one place. A Goa trip or a kitchen remodel finally gets a single honest number.

Bills and recurring payments

Rent, EMIs, SIPs, insurance premiums, subscriptions and utilities can all be set up as recurring payments, with reminders a chosen number of days before each due date. Rovezi doesn’t pay anything for you; when you make the payment yourself, you confirm it, and it’s recorded.

Statement imports

Upload your bank’s CSV export and review every line before anything is posted. Nothing is added behind your back. You can also keep the original PDF statement attached privately for your records.

Items, warranties and vehicles

Itemised purchases become items, with the model, serial number, warranty-until date and receipt attached. You can filter items by warranty expiry, so you know what’s still covered before you pay for a repair.

For vehicles, whether a car, a two-wheeler or something else, you can log fuel, service, insurance, PUC and odometer readings, along with documents and their expiry dates.

Reports, to the paisa

Spending reports show where your money actually went. Underneath, the ledger is exact: amounts are stored as whole paise, every transaction balances, and corrections are made as reversals with a trail rather than silent edits. We wrote about why that matters in why exact money matters.

Works like an app

Rovezi is an installable web app. Add it to your home screen, and you can read your data even when you’re offline.

What Rovezi deliberately doesn’t do

Some things are missing on purpose. We think saying so clearly is part of being trustworthy.

Rovezi does not Why
Connect to your bank You stay in control of what enters your records. Imports are files you choose and review.
Read your SMS or email Your inbox is yours. We don’t need it to keep accurate books.
Make payments Rovezi records money; it never moves it. You pay through your own bank or UPI app.
Give investment or tax advice We’re a record-keeping tool, not an adviser.
Show ads or sell your data We don’t have an advertising business, and your financial data is not a product.

This means Rovezi asks a bit more of you than an app that pulls everything in automatically. In return, nothing appears in your ledger that you didn’t put there or approve, and your bank credentials never leave your hands.

Privacy by design

Money is personal, so Rovezi is built to keep it that way.

  • Passkeys for sign-in. Add a passkey and sign in with your phone’s or laptop’s built-in fingerprint, face or screen lock — nothing to type, and nothing a phishing page can steal.
  • A private workspace. Your data lives in your own workspace. Friends you share a link with see only their read-only balance with you, nothing else.
  • No hidden data flows. No bank connection, no SMS or email reading, no ads and no selling your data.

You can read more about how we approach this on our security page.

Free in early access

Rovezi is free during early access. We want people to use it for their real money, tell us what’s working and what isn’t, and help us decide what to build next. Early access is how we learn what matters most to you.

Tell us what you think

We’re a small team, and feedback goes straight to the people building the product. If something confuses you, breaks, or simply feels slower than it should, we want to know. Write to support@mail.rovezi.tech. Feature ideas are welcome too, especially the specific ones: “I want to see how much my sister owes me across three trips” is more useful to us than “better reports”.

How Rovezi helps

If your money is spread across accounts, cards, shared costs, family loans and a few big purchases, Rovezi gives it one calm, accurate home: your spending kept separate from what others owe you, card payments never double-counted, bills with reminders, and receipts and warranties where you can find them. Take a tour on the features page, or browse more guides on the blog.

Thank you for being here at the start. Rovezi is free during early access — create your account from the box below.
